Dennis Frenchman is the Leventhal Professor of Urban Design and Planning at MIT, where he is Associate Dean and chair of the Masters in City Planning program. He is also on the faculty of the Center for Real Estate. He has taught and practiced extensively in Asia, Europe, and South America and served as External Advisor on urban livability to the President of the World Bank.

Frenchman is a registered architect, and founding principal of ICON architecture in Boston, an international architecture and urban design firm. Dennis Frenchman’s practice and research focus on the transformation of cities. He is an expert on the application of digital technology to city design and has designed large-scale media oriented cities and industrial clusters including Seoul Digital Media City in Korea, the Digital Mile in Zaragoza, Spain, Media City: UK in Salford, England, Twofour54 in Abu Dhabi, and Ciudad Creativa Digital, Guadalajara, Mexico. He has a particular interest in the redevelopment of industrial sites and has prepared plans for the renewal of textile mill towns, canals, rail corridors, steels mills, coal and oil fields, shipyards and ports, including many of international cultural significance. Currently, he is leading an MIT research effort to develop new models for clean energy urbanization in China, sponsored by the Energy Foundation. He is the author of articles and books on advanced urban design, including Technological Imagination and the Historic City (2008, Ligouri, with William J. Mitchell, et al). His work has been widely recognized including awards from Progressive Architecture, the American Institute of Architects, and three citations from the American Planning Association for the most outstanding projects in the United States.

Dr. Feng Li co-founded SummitView Capital in 2011, with over 18 years of experience in various technology industries as a researcher, entrepreneur, CEO, and investor. 

 

Prior to SummitView, Feng was a partner at VantagePoint Capital, a global venture capital firm focusing on clean-tech industries, and led VPCP’s investment activities in clean tech in China.  He served as the Chairman of the Board at Universe Media Holdings, Ltd., which he co-founded and served as the Chairman and CEO until 2008.  Prior to Universe Media, he co-founded Photonify Technologies, Inc., a Silicon Valley based medical device company, and served as the Chairman and CEO. Feng co-founded the Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club in 2001, and served as the Secretary General until 2005.  He also co-founded the Beijing Chapter of Asian American Multi-Technology Association (AAMA) in 2004 and served as an executive committee member until 2010.  He also served as Director of International Affairs and Head of Investment and Financing Committee at the China Renewable Energy Society from 2009 to 2013. Dr. Li holds BS and MS degrees from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and MS and PhD degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Juanjuan Zhang is the Epoch Foundation Professor of International Management and a Professor of Marketing at the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Zhang studies marketing strategies in today’s social context. Her research covers industries such as consumer goods, social media, and healthcare, and functional areas such as product development, pricing, and sales. She has received the Frank M.Bass Dissertation Paper Award for the best marketing thesis, is a four-time finalist for the John D.C. Little Award for the best marketing paper, and  twice a finalist for the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science Long Term Impact Award.

Zhang currently serves as Department Editor of Management Science, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, and Quantitative Marketing and Economics. She also serves as a VP of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS). Zhang holds a BEcon from Tsinghua University and a PhD in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley.

Andrew W. Lo is the Charles E. and Susan T. Harris Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, director of the MIT Laboratory for Financial Engineering, a principal investigator at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and an affiliated faculty member of the MIT Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is also an external faculty member of the Santa Fe Institute and a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

 

He received awards include Batterymarch, Guggenheim, and Sloan Fellowships; the Paul A. Samuelson Award; the Eugene Fama Prize; the IAFE-SunGard Financial Engineer of the Year; the Global Association of Risk Professionals Risk Manager of the Year; the Harry M. Markowitz Award; the Managed Futures Pinnacle Achievement Award; one of TIME’s “100 most influential people in the world”; and awards for teaching excellence from both Wharton and MIT. His book Adaptive Markets has also received a number of awards, listed here. He is a Fellow of Academia Sinica; the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; the Econometric Society; and the Society of Financial Econometrics. Lo received a B.A. in economics from Yale University in 1980 and an A.M. and Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University in 1984. From 1984 to 1988, he was an assistant and associate professor of finance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He has been at MIT since 1988.

Eric is an active member of the Association of Interim Executives where he runs or advises on turnarounds.

 

Eric Kish is also author and speaker. He is the author of two books: From 5 to 50 to 500 - How to build and run scalable organizations using Intent Driven Management and Everyday Turnaround: The Art and Science of Daily Business Transformation.

 

His educational background is an MSc from Stanford Business School, an  Advanced Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from MIT, an Executive Certificate in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University, an Executive Certificate in IP and Business Strategy from Harvard Business School and an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnics of Bucharest with a major in Power Electronics.
